The title comes from the Greek ta biblia meaning “the books”. And that’s the first thing to recognise about the Bible. It’s not one book - it’s a collection of many different kinds of book or writings, including history, poetry, stories, legal codes, proverbs and sayings, apocalyptic vissionary descriptions, hymns and letters.
