Bible study intro

Welcome to our Atonement Bible Study Intro!

We are so happy to have you here with us.

This introduction is intended to provide guidance as you prepare for our Bible Study session commencing on September 1st, 2025. The discussion will focus on the following four points:

  • Format of the Atonement Bible Study

  • Building Habits

  • Necessary Materials/Tools

  • Time Commitment and schedule

You will need approximately 6 min to review this information to ensure you are fully prepared for our upcoming study.

The structure of the Bible study

Our Bible study approach is specifically designed for the average Christian who seeks to delve deeper into God's Word with a sincere desire to understand and apply it practically in their daily lives.

We are not advocating for a new study method or intricate techniques for studying the Bible. Instead, we will adhere to a structured reading plan, starting with the book of Romans, and provide a detailed explanation of the verses.

Our primary objective is to present the teachings in a clear, engaging, and relatable manner, enabling you to reflect on your own life and make meaningful applications or changes.

Throughout our sessions, we will address and clarify various aspects including literary context (bearing in mind the ancient Hebrew and Greek origins of the Bible), historical context, cultural customs, and ultimately, the symbolic significance behind the text.

Habit building

It is important to emphasize that Bible Study entails the in-depth examination of scriptures. However, it is also crucial to adopt the right mindset when approaching the Bible.

According to John 1, Jesus is described as the Word that became flesh. Therefore, each time you delve into the pages of the Bible, you are essentially encountering Jesus. The issue lies in the fact that many Christians do not receive much from their Bible study because they approach it with motives other than seeking Jesus. When you come with a genuine desire to know and experience God, He will unveil His truths to you, leaving you in awe of His magnificence.

The primary goal of reading the Bible should be to encounter Jesus and deepen your understanding of Him. It is through this encounter that you will develop a hunger to delve further into the scriptures.

Create a schedule for your study sessions. Make it consistent and set a routine. If you plan to study in the morning, set your alarm the night before, gather all necessary materials, and organize your day to allow for an early bedtime and a refreshed start the next morning. By following this routine, you can effectively ready yourself for your study session and utilize your study time more efficiently.

Research indicates that sticking to a set schedule can decrease decision fatigue by eliminating the constant need to decide when to study. When specific blocks of time are designated for certain tasks, the debate around when or how long to study is eliminated - simply follow the routine. This structured approach helps you stay on track and reduces the likelihood of procrastination.

Materials / Tools required

We recommend streamlining your approach to studying the Bible by keeping your note-taking concise, memorable, and focused.

  • Choose a peaceful, distraction-free environment.

  • Ensure you have a lightweight, travel-friendly notebook and a reliable pen.

  • Use a hard copy of a Bible in a translation you understand and are comfortable marking up.

  • Highlighters can be used to emphasize key teachings, verses, or important information in your Bible or notebook.

  • We recommend keeping your phone away from your study space. If you use it for accessing your Bible study materials daily, ensure that it is in do not disturb mode to minimize distractions.

Time required / schedule

We have not determined a specific timeline for the completion of the entire Bible, as we believe that rushing through it would be counterproductive. Our objective is not to impose a strict deadline for finishing the Bible, but rather to emphasize the importance of comprehending and implementing its teachings in your daily life. We encourage you to concentrate on grasping the content and applying it, rather than merely reading to meet a time constraint.

Additionally, our study sessions will be kept to a daily duration of 15 - 30 minutes.
